In the past few years we have learned much about Hineston and surrounding communities and the people and events that made it such an interesting area. Yet, there is much left to learn. We will never know all of it but we cannot delay in the accumulation of that history. With each passing day someone who knew vital information dies or forgets.
One of the neglected areas is the Indians, some of whom lived in or near the lifetime of our oldest residents.
Anyone with information on area Historic Indians and their artifacts please share it.

In Sieper Swamp there are graves and a large mound said to have been built by Indians.  Do you know anything about them?

I have enjoyed editing the Hineston Chronicles, but the time has come for me to turn it over to a younger person. My health is rapidly deteriorating. Thankfully Mr. Chris Perkins has agreed to take on the editing and publishing duties. I plan to continue research and limited writing to provide information for him to use. If you have anything to contribute please send it to him at the address below.
Another frustrating bit of information is that my computer and its back-up memory crashed and I lost the email addresses for subscribers to the Hineston Chronicles. I am trying to rebuild the list with the few address that I can find. Please send your name and email address to Mr. Perkins at the address below. Remember the subscription assures that you are notified when the Chronicles are published—and they are free.

Euna Houston, graduate of Oak Hill School, is searching for a friend  from a bygone era. Euna has been gone from the Hineston area and cannot recall the full name of her friend—Peggy Sue. Euna and Calvin Marler were classmates and Peggy Sue was a year or so younger than them.

Sheriff’s Office
Gregory Eugene Carlock and Rebecca Marie Carlock from Elmer, La. were arrested on multiple counts of theft and criminal damage.
Trista Nicole Goleman of Elmer was arrested and charged with theft and burglary.
Cheyenne Jeanette Teal of Boyce was arrested and charged with 2nd degree battery and contempt of court.
James Blakely Simon of Woodworth was arrested on charges of theft and Sean Franks Clark , also from Woodworth, was arrested on charges of criminal conspiracy and possession of stolen goods.

Joan Byrd, 84, passed away on June 4, 2015 and was interred at Cryer Cemetery.
Marie Gibson Hughes, 90, passed away of June 7, 2015.
Roderick Kelly, 42, passed away on May 31, 2015, and was interred at Glenmore Community Cemetery.
Helen Felton, 83, passed away on July 3, 2015. She was interred at Osborne Cemetery — Oakdale.
Ira Cripps, 88, passed away on July 28, 2015. He was interred at the Cormel Cemetery, Kolin.
William “Randy “ Sweat, 55, passed away on March 18, 2015 and was interred at Drake’s Fork Cemetery.
Frank Lee Tyler, 68, passed away on May 30, 2015 and was interred at Pisgah, Cemetery.
Timothy Louis Cloud, 36, passed away on June 1, 2015 and was interred at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Ronald Glenn Taylor ,66, passed away on March 9, 2015.

Ronald Gene Hutchinson, 67, passed away on July 17, 2015 and was interred at the Hampton Memorial Cemetery of Elizabeth.
Rodney Stokes, 88, passed away on August 9, 2015.
