FIRST QUARTER 2016

The old Hineston Post Office built in 1927. The postmaster was Mrs. Mamie Goleman. Mrs. Goleman and her husband lived in the rear of the building. The building was owned by Mr. Jesse Morrison and was located across the highway from what is now known as Sissy's.

EDITORIAL
Since the last addition of was published two great men from the Hineston area passed way. First Don C. Marler passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2016. I think everyone reading this knows Mr. Marler was
a great American. I quote here from his obituary. "Don proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict as a "Frogman," now known as the US Navy Seals. He was a noted historian of Louisiana and East Texas having authored several historical books. Don worked as a psychiatric social worker with the VA Hospital, MHMRA, as well as, developing living centers for the developmentally disabled. He was also the former director of the Jean Lafitte society in Galveston, TX." He wrote the book Historic Hinston which our Facebook group is an extension of. Also this web blog was started by him. I am sure others can say a lot more about Mr. Marler.
The second legendary person to pass away from our area was Leverne Perry. Widely known and admired he will be greatly missed.

DEATHS

William J. "Bill" Bond Sr. ,83, of Boyce, passed from this life on Sunday, January 3, 2016, and was interred in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, at Ball, LA.
Harold Arthur Strother 86, of the Ten Mile Community, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2016
Marvin T. "Bill" Rivers, 82, of Boyce, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2016 and was interred at St. Clair Baptist Church Cemetery in Boyce, LA.
Gracie Afemon Bounds, age 91 of Hineston, entered eternal rest on Friday, March 11, 2016.
Interment in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Calcasieu, LA.
Marion Francis Richey, Sr., 72, of Bentley, entered eternal rest on Saturday, January 9, 2016. A memorial service was held at Red Store United Pentecostal Church, 5188 Highway 121, Boyce, La.
Janis Lee Nugent and Michael Otis Perkins both of Pitkin passed from this life on Saturday, January 16, 2016 in the Rapides Regional Medical Center, Alexandria, LA.
Lorraine Ray Bass passed away on January 23, 2016, and interment was in Laurel Hill Cemetery, LaCamp, LA.
Marcie Lavera Robinson, 86, entered eternal rest on Sunday, January 24, 2016 and was interred in the Lone Star Cemetery, Hineston, LA
Don C. Marler, 82, of Pineville, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2016 was laid to rest in Alexandria Memorial Gardens.
Ruby R. Johnson, 81 passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2016,and was interred in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Melder, LA.
Mary Ruth Bordelon Gordey, 86, formerly of Melder, LA., passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2016. Interment was in Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville, LA.
Carolee Willis, 64, entered eternal rest on March 7, 2016 and was laid to rest at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Hineston, LA.
John "Bennie" Walding, passed away March 11, 2016 and interment was in Fellowship Methodist Cemetery, Hineston, LA.
Valley LaRee Willis, 22, of Pitkin, entered eternal rest on Saturday, March 12, 2016 and was interred at Occupy #1 Cemetery, Glenmora, LA.
Betty Lou Hooker, 85 of Boyce, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016. A private graveside service was held at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery, Gardner, LA.
Clyde Michael Powell 64, of Otis, entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 17. He was interred in the Hemphill Star Cemetery, Boyce, LA
Audrey R. Williamson passed away March 22, 2016 and was interred in Fellowship Methodist Cemetery in Hineston LA.
Raeley Faith Willis, entered eternal rest on Friday, March 25, 2016. Interment was in Oakhill Cemetery,Oakdale LA.
Leverne Perry, a legend in Central Louisiana, passed away Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016. Burial was in Fellowship Cemetery, Hineston, LA.
Amanda Rudisill Methvin 59, of LaCamp, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016.Services celebrating her life were held at Oak Grove Baptist Church, LaCamp, LA.
Wanda Deloras Clark, 64, of Pitkin, entered eternal rest on March 29, 2016.Interment was in Gunter Cemetery, Forest Hill, LA.
